aberdeen group report on mobility

the aberdeen group have released a new report on the real cost of wireless mobility.

it didn't surprise me to learn that 64% of respondents are concerned with escalating costs in wireless. however, i was surprised that 44% have no formal programme to manage wireless mobility.

quote:

it costs nearly 10x more to manage wireless services and devices compared to wireline. with 80% of respondents planning increases in pdas with wireless access, these costs are sure to rise. two major challenges face wireless mobility: 64% of survey respondents struggle with escalating costs for services, while 57% of respondents rank supporting devices as a close second priority.

the methodology reveals that most of the 130 companies involved (77%) were in north america, but it's still an interesting pointer to where things are going. companies are realising that modern working means 'mobile' and that phones are now only a part of that with wireless pdas becoming an important component.
