blocking skype 3.0

ipoque claim their prx traffic manager can detect and, if necessary prevent, skype 3.0 traffic:-

quote:
on november 9 the brand new beta version of skype 3.0 has been released. experts keep emphasizing the vulnerabilities of the popular program pointing out the potential security risks. in addition, the use of skype in a corporate network significantly increases the traffic volume thus interfering with other mission-critical applications. to help companies alleviate these risks, ipoque has immediately updated its prx traffic managers, which are now capable to detect and – if necessary – block the latest skype version.

have to wonder just how much skype is actually a problem and how much of it is people telling me it is a problem?

certainly it isn't a problem at gower towers, partly because nobody has asked for it, but mostly because i have managed to block it and have no intention of finding out how to unblock it. then the internet security policy here tends towards the draconian, still not strict enough to appease hra, rip, cdpa and a host of other things fast are trying to bend my ear over at the moment though!
