htc tornado + cicero s/w = voip/cellular phone
quote:
the tornado looks like a run-of-the-mill feature phone and is, in fact, 2mm thinner than the popular sony ericsson k750i. while it is unlikely that the tornado will ship with a pre-installed voip client, since the phone is based on the windows mobile os, there are several third party windows softphone applications available. one such application from cicero networks replaces the native dialer and will intelligently route calls over cellular or wi-fi depending on the network available. operators such as orange, o2, t-mobile, vodafone and cingular have branded and distributed htc phones before. whether or not they offer the htc tornado to their customers will reveal how vulnerable they feel in this converging world.

i'm in singapore and most likely going to purchase a new phone. i want to stay away from the pda phones and get a "smartphone" -- i'm worried though that while the htc runs windows mobile 5, it won't be able to run any of the sip clients (e.g. sjphone). for the life of my i haven't been able to find any hardware requirements for sjphone... anybody know?
